TOURNAMENT SUPPORT- 


Please note:if the game is cancelled due to weather, in advance of your signed up shift time, then the shift is cancelled and you DO NOT get credit as fulfilling the shift. You will be required to select a different available shift. If you arrive for your shift and a subsequent decision is made to close the park and cancel the games, you WILL be credited as completing your shift. Please check the EMB website in case of unsettled weather to see if the game has been cancelled.

Convener(1) per tournament-on approval from EMB Executive-full fulfillment of volunteer hours

This is a list of suggested responsibilities for the Tournament Convener.

  1. Know the umpire schedule and who to contact if they don’t arrive

  2. Know the score keepers/pitch counters schedules and who to contact if they don’t arrive

  3. Arrive one hour before the first game. Introduce yourself to team coaches

  4. Supervise the operation of the tournament

  5. Be available either in person or via cell phone at all times during schedule tournament play

  6. Receive all complaints, protests and appeals

  7. Ensure all bench staff,  players and volunteers abide by tournament By-Laws, Operating Policies, and Rules and Regulations

  8. Take such action as may be deemed necessary in cases of flagrant misconduct, intoxication, public displays of anger or other actions deemed to be severe.

  9. Update the EMB website if games are cancelled for any reason ; e.g. weather

     

     

Score Keepers/Diamond Prep/Equipment-combined role :4 hr. shift/player

  1. Make sure all the score sheets, pitch count , pens/pencils, clipboard are at diamonds

  2. Assign home team’s scorekeeper as the official scorekeeper (if we don’t provide our own)

  3. Before each game make sure an up-to-date pitch count is available

  4. After each game, give each team a copy of the score sheet

  5. Take the other copy of the score sheet to the tournament “office” and update the scores and pitch count

    Diamond Prep/Equipment

    1. Make sure bases/pitcher’s rubber are at the correct distance and secure

    2. Line the diamond and rake/drag when necessary

    3. Ensure game balls are at each diamond

    4. Check umpire equipment is available at each diamond if umpires don’t have their own

    5. Keep grounds clean

       

       

    Food Booth (Concession)- 4 hr. shift/player

    1. The duties include handling cash, food prep, barbequing and clean up at the end of the day.

    3. You must be 14 or older to be in the food booth.
