Hello All,
We hope you are doing well and staying safe!
We felt it was important to update our plans at Exeter Minor Ball for 2021 given the new 3 step Plan from the Provincial Government.
The Government announcement on May 20th that allows us to slowly return to baseball was both welcome and extremely disappointing.
Baseball Ontario is not satisfied with the approach taken for outdoor team sports, and will continue to lobby the government for changes to the regulations impacting us.
The currently permitted plan is to do the following:
Until June 13th - no organized in-person baseball activities are permitted
June 14-July 4 – Training for groups of 10 or less are permitted while keeping 3M distance
We will break into teams, or at a minimum groups of 10 from the age group you are registered in
July 5-July 25 – Training for groups of 25 or less are permitted while keeping 3M distance
We will engage into full team practices
July 26 on – Outdoor open with restrictions (likely leagues of 50 players)We will move to games in pods with other centers in the Huron-Perth zone as we are allowed
These games will continue through to the end of August
Tee-Ball is an area where we are looking into guidance about parent attendance for assistance.
If not, we will work as best we can in the above scenario.
As you can understand we need to make team commitments and complete a number of tasks to make a season happen including insurance, jerseys, umpires, diamond times etc.
We are asking you to review our plans and confirm to us your plans to play the 2021 season with us or not. We would like that commitment by June 7th via email to [email protected].
At that time we will be cashing the registration cheques for the season.
If the season is further shifted or is compromised, EMB will consider a reduction of fee’s by either a credit for the following season, or by other means decided at a later date.
EMB has decided to Tier our teams this season to place players in teams that best suit each person’s skills at this time and to align with other local Centers.
With that being said, try-outs are not easily accommodated given the circumstances.
If you wish to advise us if you would like to play “competitive ball” simply state that in your commitment response.
We are also looking for Girls Head Coaches at a couple age groups – this is an excellent time to get involved and help out – please consider and offer your services.
Of course these plans can shift with any changes (good or bad) that the Province, Municipality or local Health officials send our way.
Please keep an eye on the website and Facebook page for updates.
If you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out to us.
